Top 5 battery powered weed eaters that won’t break the bank

Are you sick of changing the oil and running to get gas for your weed eater?  Is your arm numb from the vibration after your done as well?  If you want to make a change then check out these top 5 battery powered weed eaters.  Some of these units come with a 1.5 Ah (Amp hours) or 2 Ah battery, but I would recommend to upgrade to the higher Ah rated batteries by either selecting that option or purchasing an additional battery with the higher Amp hours.

20V or 40V?

If you are already an owner of one of these brands you can purchase them without the battery to save some upfront cost.  Just make sure they are of the higher Ah variety for best performance.  The nice thing about all of these is the batteries are compatible with a lot of the other tools that these brands carry.  The 20V and 18V tools have the most compatible tools, but there’s more coming out for the 40V varieties.  The 40V is supposed to give a little more power and should last longer per charge.  It does depend on the Amp hours however so there is some give and take to going each direction.  The 20V tools will be a little lighter.

The Greenworks 40V line claims over 40 tools available in that realm.  The DeWalt claims over 100 in their 20V Max line.  Milwaukee says more than 125 tools, but I ended up removing that one for the Worx because of price so here it is if interested in that one  That one has a 9Ah battery for more power and lasts longer, but that makes it more expensive.  The Worx is a new model that takes (2) 20V batteries and works in conjunction to create 40V power.  This helps if you are a current user of Worx 20V products.

Which should you choose?

There’s pros and cons to all of these so there isn’t really a perfect must have model.  The two Black+Decker models are more for someone looking for something light and are a little less heavy duty, but both have the edger feature.  If you want something that has the capability to use attachments like a blower, cultivator, edger, pole saw, etc.. then the Greenworks fits that description.  The Greenworks, DeWalt and Milwaukee all have the brushless motors that are supposed to be longer lasting and quieter.  Those 3 also have dual line feed to help cut the weeds more efficiently.  Either way one of these should be able to fit the bill to fit your battery powered weed eater/String trimmer/whacker (whatever you want to call it) needs.
